Miniature dogs

Miniature dogs are very adorable and are normally very easy to care for; however, they all have unique personalities known for the in regular breed. Miniature, small, or toy breeds can be challenging for your veterinarian, as they may need extra care. Since these dogs are quite a bit smaller than their normal size, you will need to watch for health problems such as:

  • Dehydration
  • Hypoglycemia

The reason this is true is that they do not have much weight and can dehydrate very quickly if they do not receive enough water or are out in the heat for long periods of time.
Low blood sugar in miniature puppies is something your veterinarian will have to watch for.

If you decide on purchasing a toy, small, or miniature dog then you should read all the literature you can about the breed and talk with your vet to ensure your dog stays healthy and happy.
