Children love pets. They like to play with them and spend time with them. As a parent it is your responsibility to choose a right kind of pet for you children. While choosing a pet the questions like, to have a puppy or an older dog or the size of the dog and other such questions should always be taken into consideration. As some dogs by nature love children whereas some don’t.
Some dogs are too delicate for children while some are too big to be around children. Some dogs prefer to be outside the house and some are lap dogs that want to be in the complete presence of the family. For these reasons you need to decide on which dog fits best and can very well go along with your family. If you go for a puppy you need to give time to train and the dog to mingle freely in the house. To spare extra time is not possible then the best way is to go for an older dog.
Before choosing a dog try to gather information from the breeders about their characteristics and comfort level with the children. Some dogs like the pugs are clownish and playful and should be handled gently. The Yorkshire terrier can be comfortable with the older children if handled with care. Toy poodles can be with older considerate children, Pekingese like calm and quiet children and dislike being mauled. |
