The pug is the breed whose origin is till not known. Many dog lovers are of the opinion that this breed originated in Asia somewhere before 400 B.C whereas some believe that the credit of bringing this breed back from East goes to Dutch traders. This is not all the debate over its origin still continues. For some the pugs are the descendants of shorthaired Pekingese while for others that pugs are the outcome of crossbreeding with small bulldog holds true.
Some people underestimate this dog due to its size but on the contrary they are very obedient, sturdy and a good watchdog. A pug will never show its aggression or its timidity forming the most spectacular trait of his nature and behavior. He is always friendly and mischievous.
The pugs love the companion of one and all. Even they are happy with strangers and within minutes they are friendly with them. They get along well with all children even if they are naughty.
They are comfortable with other dogs until and unless they are socialized at an early age. Pugs do not require much caring and cleaning. But proper cleaning of muzzle should be done as they slobber. The pugs have folds of skin, which should be cleaned to avoid itchiness. Bathing should be done only when it is needed.
