Origin
Yorkshire Terriers were developed in 1800s at Yorkshire, England. This is a small dog belonging to the breed of Terrier type and has been a part of developing other breeds like the Australian Silky Terrier. This dog is considered a winning show-dog as well as companion dog and is nicknamed Yorkie. The Yorkshire terrier got the title of being the second most popular breed of dog of the United States in 2006.
Appearance
This breed is very small usually weighing not more than 7 pounds and comes in toy category. This dog has playful behavior and distinguished blue tan coat that looks very appealing and attractive.
Behavior
The Yorkshire terrier is said to be loyal and honest towards its owner and is extremely affectionate. It has nothing to do with others except their owner. This is the breed that need human companion more than any other breed. It is the most loyal companion who can very well adjust with the older children if handled with care.
Grooming
The Yorkshire terrier likes to have its independent place and does not like anyone interfering with it. They enjoy the company of other pets and can be very playful when left with other pets. The dog is very intelligent and can be trained with ease. It is fearless, independent and assertive.
